In his remarks, Guterres pointed out that continued investment in fossil fuels undermines the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and threatens the future of coming generations, calling on financial institutions and companies to shift their investments toward clean and renewable energy sources.
He emphasized that the energy transition is not only an environmental necessity, but also an economic opportunity to create new jobs and achieve sustainable development, urging the international community to accelerate the pace of climate action before it is too late.
